Sell your Porsche: the details that make the difference

If you want to sell your Porsche, you quickly notice that “a 911” says little. A Carrera, a GTS, a Turbo S and a GT3 all bear this number and yet are different cars, just like an air-cooled classic and a Taycan with a high-voltage battery. Then there are the equipment and maintenance, and the question of what has been changed since delivery.

Two groups stand out in the statistics. Of the 75’378 Porsches on Swiss roads at the end of September 2025, 30 percent were less than five years old (FSO). At the same time, 8’109 Porsches were 30 years old or older; the FSO counts more passenger cars of that age only for VW and Mercedes-Benz. A classic from the seventies raises different questions from a young Macan coming off a lease; this page covers both.

For the request, this means: take the exact model designation from the vehicle registration document, state the gearbox, packages and optional extras, and add photos of the service booklet, invoices and certificates. With a classic, this includes whether the engine and gearbox are still the original ones; that is exactly what Porsche Classic checks against the historical records for the Technical Certificate. Every modification also belongs in the request.

  2. 2

Send photos & vehicle registration document

Send us photos of your car and your vehicle registration document conveniently online. This allows a precise assessment without you losing time on appointments.

  3. 3

    Get a guaranteed offer

Based on your photos, you receive a firm, guaranteed offer – conveniently online, with no on-site viewing appointments. No renegotiation, 100% transparent.

  4. 4

    Vehicle handover & payment

For the handover appointment, have the vehicle registration document, all keys, the service booklet and invoices ready, and for a Taycan or plug-in hybrid also the charging cables. We compare the model, equipment and condition with your details and photos. If everything is as described, we pay for the Porsche by instant bank transfer and then take care of the deregistration at the road traffic office.

How you get your money

Instant bank transfer Recommended

We transfer the purchase price during the handover itself. The money is usually in your account within seconds, secure and traceable.

For smaller amounts, for example for export vehicles, we can also pay in cash on request.

Warranty, classic certificate, equipment: what counts with a Porsche

Porsche Approved warranty. Porsche Schweiz offers this warranty for cars up to 15 years old. It can be taken out up to 14 years and 200’000 kilometers, and after a passed 111-point check even without previous warranty cover. The term is 12, 24 or 36 months without a mileage limit; according to Porsche, the warranty is transferable in a private sale or a sale to a Porsche Centre.

Technical Certificate for classics. Porsche Classic Partners issue it for classic Porsches from the 356 to the 911 of the 997 series. Among other things, it states the invoice date, place of delivery, colors and factory equipment, and checks the engine and gearbox numbers against the historical records; in addition, there is a technical check and eight photos.

Equipment and care. State the body style and variant, such as Coupé, Cabriolet or Targa, plus the gearbox and all extras that were not standard. If anything was retrofitted, that belongs in the request just as much as whether the original parts are still there. A service booklet without gaps and the garage invoices show how the car has been cared for.

What belongs in your request

  • Model designation as in the vehicle registration document, for example “911 Carrera 4 GTS”
  • First registration, mileage and last MFK (vehicle inspection)
  • Service booklet and invoices, last service
  • Running new-car or Approved warranty with end date
  • Modifications, with or without an entry in the vehicle registration document
  • For classics: Technical Certificate, if available

Porsche in Switzerland: cars on the road and new registrations

Porsche accounts for 1.6 percent of all passenger cars in the country (FSO, as of September 30, 2025). Of these, 3’944 were fully electric and 4’584 plug-in hybrids. At the other end of the age scale are 1’844 Porsches that are 50 years old or older. More than one in ten Porsches is at least 30 years old, whereas across all brands, not even one car in 35 is.

According to auto-schweiz, 4’315 new Porsches were registered in 2025, 1.8 percent of the market. The most registered was the 911 with 1’539 cars, ahead of the Macan (1’111) and Cayenne (1’046); in each of the ten years before, the Macan had been in the lead. Added up from 2015 to 2025, 16’446 Macans and 12’125 911s were put on the road new; from 2020, its first year in the statistics, to 2025, the Taycan reached 2’750 new registrations. Our guide to used car value explains how mileage, condition and model changes determine the price of a used car.

What determines the value of your car?

The most important factors in a vehicle valuation:

  • Make & model

Premium brands hold their value better

  • Mileage

    The lower, the more valuable

  • Features & engine

High-end features and a powerful engine increase the value

  • Technical condition

Body, engine and transmission are assessed individually

Frequently asked questions about selling your Porsche

Does the Porsche Approved warranty pass to the buyer?

According to Porsche Schweiz, it is transferable in a private sale and in a sale to a Porsche Centre. The warranty covers all vehicle components and pays labor and material costs up to the current value, without a deductible. Excluded are wear and age-related changes, for example to the brakes, tires, clutch or batteries. Legally, it is an insurance policy of Zürich Versicherungs-Gesellschaft AG, in cooperation with Porsche Financial Services. If such a warranty is running, tell us its term and end date.

What applies to the battery of my Taycan?

Porsche delivers every new vehicle with an electrified drive with a worldwide warranty on the high-voltage battery: eight years or 160’000 kilometers, whichever comes first. For fully electric models such as the Taycan, Porsche also guarantees a residual capacity of 80 percent for up to three years or 60’000 kilometers, and after that of at least 70 percent until the end of the battery warranty. For older Taycans, the conditions may differ; the documents for your car are decisive. Tell us the first registration and mileage. More on this in the article Selling an electric car.

My Porsche has been modified. What do I need to state?

Everything that was not fitted at the factory, from the exhaust system, wheels and suspension to performance upgrades. Under Art. 34 VTS, the registered keeper must report some modifications to the road traffic office, after which the car is re-inspected: for example exhaust systems or wheels not approved for the type, a different gearbox or axle ratio, and interventions that change exhaust or noise emissions. Tell us whether the modification is entered in the vehicle registration document, and have any original parts you still have ready for the handover.

Do you also buy old Porsches, such as a 356, a G-Model or a 944?

Yes, of any model year. Porsche Classic looks after all models that have not been built for at least ten years, from the 356 through the 914, 924, 928, 944 and 968 to the first Cayenne, and takes care of the spare parts for them. For a classic, describe restorations, overhauls and replaced parts, and send photos of the underbody and engine compartment. If your Porsche has veteran status, say so; the page Sell an old car explains what the status means.

My Porsche was not delivered in Switzerland. Will you still buy it?

Yes, we buy it in any case. Tell us the country of first registration and the date on which it was registered in Switzerland. A Porsche Approved warranty applies worldwide and can be redeemed at any Porsche Centre. For a classic, the Technical Certificate from Porsche Classic also records the original place of delivery. It’s best to send us any documents from abroad, such as service records or invoices, right away.

Can I sell a leased Porsche?

Yes, if the lease is settled in the process. Until then, the car belongs to the leasing company, even though you drive it. Ask it for the settlement amount as of the planned date of sale and send us the amount with your request. Our guide Sell a leased car explains how the settlement and purchase price are offset and which documents the company needs.
