If you want to sell your Seat, you are strictly speaking dealing with two brands. Cupra belongs to the same manufacturer, is distributed by the same importer and appears in a joint line “Seat / Cupra” in the auto-schweiz statistics; the Federal Statistical Office, on the other hand, counts Cupra as a separate brand. Here you will therefore find answers for both: for the Ibiza, Leon, Ateca or Alhambra as well as for the Formentor, Born or Terramar.
The balance has shifted. According to the FSO, 7’006 new Cupras were put on the road in 2025, but only 2’866 new Seats. On the road, it’s the other way around: 142’098 Seats compared with 28’271 Cupras. Four out of ten Seats are between five and nine years old, while 99.7 percent of Cupras are less than five years old. So if you sell a Seat, you often have a middle-aged car; if you sell a Cupra, an almost new one where warranty and leasing can still play a role.
The brand makes no difference to the process. A few details in the form, plus pictures and the vehicle registration document, and you know what we pay for your car. Models that Seat Schweiz no longer offers are welcome too, such as the Alhambra, Tarraco or Mii, natural gas cars with the abbreviation TGI, as well as vehicles with damage or an expired MFK (vehicle inspection).

A Toledo, Altea, Exeo or a Cupra Ateca too: we buy every Seat and every Cupra.
Enter your vehicle details in our online form. Your advantage: with just a few details, you get a very accurate initial offer (in practice often accurate to within +/- 1’000 CHF), because we use real market data.
Send us photos of your car and your vehicle registration document conveniently online. This allows a precise assessment without you losing time on appointments.
Based on your photos, you receive a firm, guaranteed offer – conveniently online, with no on-site viewing appointments. No renegotiation, 100% transparent.
At the handover, we briefly check whether the car, photos and details match. The agreed purchase price then goes to your account by instant bank transfer. With a Cupra Born or Tavascan, hand over the charging cables, and with every car the service booklet and all keys. After that, you no longer have to worry about the deregistration at the road traffic office.
Right at handover, with no waiting.
We transfer the purchase price during the handover itself. The money is usually in your account within seconds, secure and traceable.
For smaller amounts, for example for export vehicles, we can also pay in cash on request.
In Switzerland, Seat currently offers the Ibiza, Arona, Leon, Leon Sportstourer and Ateca, including in the Style and FR trims. For your offer, it matters which drive is in the car: TSI (gasoline), TDI (diesel), eTSI (mild hybrid), e-HYBRID (plug-in hybrid) or TGI, the natural gas drive that switches to gasoline when needed. Both brands call their all-wheel drive 4Drive.
At Cupra, the most powerful versions are called VZ; for the Formentor, the VZ5 with a five-cylinder engine and 4Drive sits above them. The Born and Tavascan are fully electric. For their high-voltage battery, Cupra guarantees eight years or 160’000 kilometers and a net capacity that does not fall below 70 percent during this time. The guide Selling an electric car shows how strongly the battery shapes the price of an electric car.
The order date is also important. The warranty terms of both brands state a two-year new-car warranty; in Switzerland, Cupra grants five years or 100’000 kilometers on factory orders placed since May 12, 2025. At Seat, the warranty can be extended by one, two or three years. If you sell the car, the warranty continues with the buyer for both brands. So if warranty time remains, the expiry date belongs in your details.

On the road, Seat ranks eleventh among the brands with 142’098 passenger cars and a 2.9 percent share (FSO, vehicle stock at the end of September 2025). Cupra reaches 28’271 vehicles, just over twice as many as in 2023. For new registrations, auto-schweiz lists both together: 9’904 cars and a 4.2 percent market share in 2025, seventh place. At the top was the Cupra Terramar (2’115), followed by the Ibiza (1’540), Leon (1’390), Formentor (1’336), Ateca (1’248) and Tavascan (1’243).
Counting from 2015, the Leon is in the lead with around 29’000 new registrations, followed by the Ateca (22’000), Alhambra and Ibiza (around 20’000 each). Since 2023, the Alhambra has hardly appeared in the statistics; in the years before, there were up to 3’662 registrations per year. We buy older Seats for which there is hardly a buyer left in Switzerland as export vehicles; more on this under Sell your car for export.

Yes, it makes no difference to us which of the two logos is on the car. Cupra has grown strongly in Switzerland: according to the Federal Statistical Office, 28’271 Cupras were already registered in 2025, almost all of them less than five years old, and just over one in four new Cupras in 2025 was an electric car. Enter the brand as it appears in the vehicle registration document and state the version, for example Formentor VZ or Born. If a warranty or lease is still running, that also belongs in the form.
Yes. The Seat Schweiz website currently lists the Ibiza, Arona, Leon, Leon Sportstourer and Ateca; the Alhambra, Tarraco and Mii are missing. That makes no difference for our purchase. For years, the Alhambra was one of the most registered Seats: according to auto-schweiz, around 20’000 were newly registered from 2015 to 2022. Important for the offer are the engine, gearbox, 4Drive, the number of seats and the condition of the interior. So photograph all rows of seats and the trunk.
In Switzerland, Cupra grants a warranty of five years or 100’000 kilometers, whichever comes first, on all factory orders placed since May 12, 2025. According to the warranty terms, the buyer of a Cupra takes over the warranty agreement and can assert the rights to the extent that they still exist at that point. So what matters is when your Cupra was ordered and delivered. Have the purchase contract or order confirmation ready and, if in doubt, have the Cupra partner confirm until when the warranty runs.
Yes. At Seat, TGI stands for engines that run on compressed natural gas (CNG) and switch to gasoline when needed; the drive was offered for the Ibiza and Leon, among others. Among the cars on Swiss roads, the Federal Statistical Office counts 1’720 Seats with a natural gas drive, more than for Skoda or Audi. We buy them like any other car. State the drive in the form so that the offer is for the right variant from the start.
Work out both. If the contract is with AMAG Leasing, according to its leasing terms you must arrange the return date at least four weeks before the end of the contract; on return, a condition report is drawn up, and you are liable for repairs that go beyond normal wear and tear. The alternative is selling: for this, you need the settlement amount from the leasing company and an offer from us. Only comparing the two figures shows which route is more favorable. You’ll find the individual steps under Sell a leased car.
Yes, we also make an offer for cars of low value. According to the FSO, just over one in three Seats on the road is ten years old or older. High mileage, an expired MFK or signs of wear are no obstacle as long as you state them in the form. Your Seat doesn’t even have to run for this: once you have accepted, we arrange the handover with you. On request, we pay smaller amounts in cash. More details on the page Sell an old car.
