If you want to sell your Renault, you usually belong to one of two groups. The larger one drives a Clio, Captur, Megane or Scenic with a gasoline or diesel engine: four out of five of the 181’128 Renault passenger cars on Swiss roads (Federal Statistical Office, September 30, 2025) have a classic combustion engine. Here it’s about mileage, condition, service records and the other factors that determine a car’s value.
The second group is smaller but has more questions: 17’345 Renaults are fully electric. That is 9.6 percent of the brand’s cars on the road, almost twice the average of all brands (5.2 percent). Because Renault bet on electricity early with the ZOE, many older used electric cars come from this brand: of the 34’730 electric cars that are five to nine years old, 5’379 bear the diamond. For the ZOE alone, auto-schweiz counted a total of 10’148 new registrations between 2015 and 2025.
For these cars, the battery decides the offer: how much capacity it still has, how long the warranty runs and which charging cables are included. Both groups fill in the same form. The more precisely you describe the drive, equipment and condition, the more reliable the offer will be; what you should have ready for this is in a short list further down.
Enter your vehicle details now and get an offer right away.

As well as the Talisman, Laguna, Symbioz or the new Renault 5 – of any model year.
Enter your vehicle details in our online form. Your advantage: with just a few details, you get a very accurate initial offer (in practice often accurate to within +/- 1’000 CHF), because we use real market data.
Send us photos of your car and your vehicle registration document conveniently online. This allows a precise assessment without you losing time on appointments.
Based on your photos, you receive a firm, guaranteed offer – conveniently online, with no on-site viewing appointments. No renegotiation, 100% transparent.
At the handover, we check whether your Renault matches the details and photos. An electric model comes with its charging cables, and every Renault with the service booklet and all keys or key cards. We then transfer the purchase price to you by instant bank transfer. We take care of the deregistration at the road traffic office.
Right at handover, with no waiting.
We transfer the purchase price during the handover itself. The money is usually in your account within seconds, secure and traceable.
For smaller amounts, for example for export vehicles, we can also pay in cash on request.
Which drive is it? On renault.ch, Renault distinguishes four electrified variants: E-Tech electric (fully electric, for example the Renault 5, Renault 4, Megane, Scenic and Twingo), full hybrid E-Tech (self-charging, for example the Clio, Captur, Symbioz, Austral and Espace), mild hybrid and the plug-in hybrid, which is available in the Rafale with all-wheel drive. Older used cars are mostly gasoline or diesel models. The difference carries a lot of weight: new Renault passenger cars are hardly available with a diesel engine anymore, whereas just over one in five Renaults on the road is a diesel.
What about the battery? For the traction batteries of the E-Tech models, Renault states a warranty of eight years or 160’000 kilometers and guarantees that they retain 70 percent of their capacity during this time. A report on the battery’s state of health (SoH) makes the valuation more precise; according to RCI Finance, Renault garages with the “Z.E. Expert” label issue it. It is not necessary for our offer.
Is the warranty still running? According to renault.ch, Renault gives a three-year factory warranty, plus three years on the paint and twelve years against rust perforation. The decisive factors are the date of first registration and your contract documents. Also tell us the trim version, for example evolution or esprit Alpine.

With 181’128 passenger cars and a 3.7 percent share, Renault ranks 8th among the cars on Swiss roads (FSO 2025), having overtaken Opel. For 2025, auto-schweiz reports 9’028 new Renault passenger cars, corresponding to a 3.9 percent market share and 9th place.
The best-selling model was no longer the Clio (1’225) but the electric Renault 5 with 1’629 vehicles; among the electric cars of all brands, that was enough for 7th place. It is followed by the Captur (1’122), Rafale (881), Symbioz (815) and Austral (707). Renault now offers the Megane and Scenic new only as electric cars. With 2’819 vehicles, almost one in three new Renault passenger cars was a fully electric car.
For the used car market, this means: in the coming years, significantly more used electric Renaults will come onto the market, and anyone selling a ZOE or Megane E-Tech today should document its battery well. Our article Selling an electric car has a guide to this.

Nothing changes for the sale: you enter your Megane or Scenic with a gasoline or diesel engine like any other model. Such cars make up the largest part of the Renaults on the road; four out of five Renaults in Switzerland have a classic gasoline or diesel engine without a hybrid (FSO 2025). For the offer, the model year, mileage, engine, gearbox, equipment and condition count, not the current catalog. The exact designation is important: note whether it is a Megane Grandtour, a Scenic or a Grand Scenic.
For the ZOE’s battery, RCI Finance SA (Mobilize Financial Services), the brand’s finance company, states eight years or 160’000 kilometers, whichever comes first. A capacity of 66 percent of the initial value is guaranteed if the vehicle warranty began before July 1, 2020, and of 70 percent if it began later. You’ll find the warranty start date in the warranty and service sheet you received at delivery.
Yes, it’s worth it. Newer Renaults can be linked to an account via the My Renault app, and the openR link multimedia system with Google integration may store an account, addresses and phone contacts. Delete the vehicle from the app before the handover and reset the system to factory settings. That way, nobody drives around with your data, and the new registered keeper can link the car to their own account.
Yes. According to renault.ch, the brand’s leasing runs through Mobilize Financial Services. As long as the contract exists, the leasing company is the owner; the sale requires its settlement amount. On request, we ask for it on your behalf and offset it against our offer. If there is a surplus, it is paid out to you. Everything else is explained under Selling despite a lease.
Yes. Whether the damage has been repaired or not makes no difference to the request, only to the price. State in the form what was damaged and upload photos; for repaired damage, the garage invoice helps, for unrepaired damage a cost estimate. You should never conceal an accident, not even one that was properly repaired. The page Sell an accident-damaged car explains what counts as an accident-damaged car and what information you owe a buyer.
Yes. Just over one in five Renaults on Swiss roads is a diesel, and around half of them are ten years old or more. For such cars, export is often the right route: Renault Group builds vehicles on four continents, including in Spain, Romania, Turkey and Morocco, so the brand is well known far beyond Switzerland. Your Renault doesn’t have to be roadworthy for this; we agree together on how the handover works after you accept. More under Selling for export.
